Position Title: Programme Delivery Manager Italy
Location: Dublin or Italy (preference Milan)
Aer Soléir is seeking a Programme Delivery Manager, Italy to join our dynamic and growing team.
The role will be responsible for leading the pre-construction and construction build out of a portfolio of projects across Italy. At present our growing portfolio in Italy comprises >1.5GW across wind, solar and battery storage (BESS) technologies with the projects in various stages of development. The first projects likely to gain sufficient planning and grid status to advance to pre-construction phase is in Q2 2024 but we would ideally like the successful candidate in position prior to this date in order to help support development activities and become familiar with the market, Aer Soléir and the project requirements.
Aer Soléir operates an outsourced business model whereby the successful candidate will provide leadership to, and oversee the performance and delivery by, the company’s appointed Owner’s/Client Engineer and Project/Site Management providers.
The Programme Manager will be responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and control of the construction process from the start to the end. The overarching objective will be deliver projects that are in line with the planned budget and schedule, while managing risk, quality, and safety.
This role reports to the COO.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead all aspects of projects execution in the pre-construction phase and through construction until hand over at commercial operation date
- Oversee and monitor the company’s interest with respect to;
o Contract reviews (non-legal)
o Construction progress against the critical path
o Equipment and material compliance with specifications
o Engineering design and planning
o Schedule Analysis and Optimization
o Equipment Commissioning and Verification Test
o Operational and Maintenance Review
o Cost/Benefit Analysis
o Variation orders and claims
o Hand over/takeover
o Commissioning/Start -Up
o Maintaining of appropriate insurance covers throughout the phases of construction
o General reporting to company on all aspects of the construction of the projects
- Protect project profitability throughout construction phase, proactively identifying and resolving risks to value and schedule
- Oversees provision of technical deliverables to support project development and commercialization, including preliminary site design/optimization, resource assessment/production estimates, construction cost estimates, and early engineering to support permitting and interconnection design decisions
- Ensure that the working relationships are positive and are managed well with equipment OEMs, EPCs, and other key suppliers
- Ensure that the working relationships are positive and are managed well with equipment the company’s development partner(s)
- Internal stakeholder collaboration across a broad range of disciplines including development, finance, engineering, energy resource assessment, origination, interconnection, legal, and construction, to produce optimized project layouts and capex estimates
- Creation and continuous development of Earned Value Analysis project budget and schedule management and predictive monitoring tools
- Creation of indicative project schedules, and final construction schedule and cash flow profile
- Management of contracting process with BOP/EPC contractors and major equipment suppliers
- Management of geotechnical investigation work on development projects
- Coordinate and manage installation logistics for company meteorological equipment
- Lead all aspects of closing out the punch list post commercial operation date, from late-stage development through engineering, procurement, construction, and handover to operations
- Other job-related duties as assigned
EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (or equivalent) preferred
- 10+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy
- Experience of depth in the construction of utility scale wind, solar and storage projects
- Experience procurement, engineering, construction and operation utility scale wind, solar and storage projects will be an added advantage
- Effective communicator with full fluency in English and Italian.
- High energy levels, flexibility and self-motivation and a real entrepreneurial spirit will be critical factors for success
- The appointee will need to gain instant credibility and must be able to lead, on the ground
- Strong inter-disciplinary communication skills, and ability to lead a small team, particularly in remote-working situations
- Broad network of relationships with key contractors and vendors
- Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project
- High motivation and passion to help create and efficiently deliver renewable energy projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure environment
- Attention to detail
- Willingness to travel, sometimes on short notice, and to visit sites & HQ
- Demonstrated renewable energy project execution, engineering and construction experience
- Proven leadership abilities to get the best out of a small, talented team
- Strong business and commercial acumen
